GET TO KNOW SERENA

Supporting and Advocating for Children and Adolescents

I started my career as a teacher and have worked in a variety of roles over the past 20+ years. I was a classroom teacher, a learning support teacher, a gifted education coordinator, a child development advisor, and a literacy specialist.
I received my Master of Education degree in 2005 from the University of Calgary. This ignited in me a passion for advocating for the needs of students.
Eventually, my roles and my education led me to pursue a new career path as a psychologist. I graduated with a Master of Counselling degree from City University of Seattle in 2015 and finally registered as a psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists in 2019. What a journey!
I love doing assessments! They are one of the main reasons I became a psychologist honestly. Because my current full-time role as a school psychologist doesn't allow me to complete assessments, I have started my private practice to do just that.
Since I was an educator first, I strongly believe that I can provide recommendations and strategies that are realistic and actionable in our current educational climate. I also endeavour to write clear and succinct reports that are meant to be read and understood by parents and teachers.
I look forward to meeting with you and your child soon.
P.S. I also have a corgi and love her to bits...hence the image.
